Finger scanning, also called fingerprint scanning or just fingerprinting, is the process of electronically obtaining and storing the human fingerprints of individuals. Finger scanning is a biometric process, because it involves the automated capture, analysis, and comparison of a specific characteristic of the human body.

Fingerprinting has requirement for factors such as immigration, citizenship, applying for foreign visas, criminal pardons, etc. In addition, computers can quickly analyze a finger scan and compare it with thousands of other finger scans, as well as with fingerprints obtained by traditional means and those digitally photographed and stored. This method greatly speeds up the process of searching finger image records in criminal investigations.
Canadian Criminal Background Check: Whether for employment, education, volunteering, or adoption, the reasons for conducting a check on criminal record are numerous. In order to get a criminal background check in Ontario, Canada, you will need to contact us and be fingerprinted. Criminal background checks in Canada have not always been common; however, the number of background checks requested and performed has recently increased significantly, which has now made it a mandatory requirement in most fields.
Canadian Immigration Fingerprinting: Individuals who have applied to visit or immigrate to Canada permanently or temporarily (permanent residence, citizenship, work permit, etc) are required by law to get their fingerprints taken before their application can be processed. Our Canadian immigration services assists you in preparing the letter you need to provide to the Canadian Citizenship and Immigration office which will be verified prior to fingerprinting. Next, you will need to provide two pieces of valid government identification, one of which must be from Canada, and one of which must have your photograph. After your fingerprints have been taken and verified, your application will be sent off.
International Fingerprinting: If you are outside Canada but would require a fingerprint, we are able to provide the fingerprinting services to you. Administrative fees and or additional costs may apply.
Fingerprinting applications include at least one of the following valid (non-expired) IDs, issued by the government. Identification needs to have name, date of birth, signature and photo. Your health cards and social insurance number cards are not acceptable. Any of the following ID cards are acceptable:
- Canadian or Foreign Driver’s License
- Canadian or Foreign Passport
- Canadian Citizenship Card
- Permanent Resident (PR) Card
- Certificate of Indian Status
- International Student ID Card
- Federal, provincial or municipal employee ID
Applicants must also provide their current and previous addresses in the last five years.
